PROJECT STATEMENT | 项目说明
This project involves the transformation of a mini-golf driving range into a children’s garden located in Guangzhou Children’s Park The primary objective of the project is to cultivate a connection between children and plants by creating an natural playground that fosters healthy development in the heart of a densely populated metropolis in China.
During the preliminary research stage, this project assessed the lack of diverse game options in children’s parks in Guangzhou using a tool for observing outdoor play. During the design stage, the project departed from the typical “KFC”(kit, fence, and carpet) style playground design and instead proposed a design strategy focused on incorporating spontaneous movements of children and plants into various activities. Additionally, the project utilized research results to inform design practice and ensure that play typologies were scientifically classified and met the needs of children’s healthy development.
The project was designed and completed during the Guangzhou Garden Expo, which was positively received by Guangzhou citizens and widely publicized by various media outlets. It was featured in over 10 media reports and received more than 200,000 online reads, playing a significant role in promoting the development of child-friendly city.
